Elect Rose Salas for Vice Chair Texas Democratic Party

Hello Fellow Delegate:

My name is Rose Salas, and I respectfully ask for your support in my candidacy for Vice Chair of the Texas Democratic Party.

I am seeking this position based on my proven record, experience, and deep commitment to serving Texas. As a lifelong Texas Democrat, I have dedicated more than 35 years to public service, demonstrating consistent hard work and leadership. I was elected—and unanimously reelected—to represent Senate District 6 on the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC), where I proudly served for 14 years before relocating to Senate District 7.

During my tenure on the SDEC, I was appointed to numerous committees, including Grassroots, Platform, Convention, Finance, and Rules. Among my most meaningful accomplishments is the trust and respect I earned from former Texas Democratic Party Chairs Bob Slagle, Molly Beth Malcolm, Charles Soechting, Boyd Ritchie, and Gilberto Hinojosa. My consecutive reappointments as Chair of the TDP Rules Committee—a role I held for 12 years—reflect their confidence in my ability to act with fairness and integrity.

As Chair of the Rules Committee, I worked to advance inclusiveness, diversity, and accountability. I collaborated closely with organizations and caucuses across the state. This included helping unify various Hispanic groups into a single Hispanic Caucus; working with Labor to ensure that rule changes would not negatively impact collective bargaining efforts; supporting the inclusion of Stonewall Democrats as SDEC members; advocating for ADA-compliant convention sites in partnership with Democrats with Disabilities; and assisting Asian American Democrats in expanding participation through the caucus system, among many other efforts.

Turning Texas blue by electing Democratic candidates at every level of the ballot remains a top priority. Achieving this goal requires strong, experienced leadership, along with a commitment to inclusiveness, diversity, and investment in our youth—our future leaders. I remain dedicated to educating voters and expanding access to the ballot, including advocating for broader vote-by-mail options.

We must bring everyone to the table and provide the tools, programs, and resources necessary for success across our state. To do that, you need a Vice Chair with experience, dedication, and a proven track record of service.
